Sarika Studio

I create studies and collages using the technique of automatism (drawing from the subconscious without a preconceived plan) or from memory. Recent works on paper have been made using the paper from an old British geography book I found left on the street in Kennington, London. Some of the common themes in these drawings are dark, distorted plants and anonymous characters that seem absorbed in thought.

This ongoing series of work draws on my experiences of commuting in London, my home city. I reflect on the way we ‘mind the gaps’ but are irresistibly connected in an urban jungle.
